The Edinburgh City Centre Transformation project aims to significantly overhaul the operation, quality and experience of Edinburgh’s City Centre streets, public spaces, amenity of access and movement, in a way that plans and sets the scene for future developments of the city up to 2050.
This project has a focus on transport in and around the city centre, and some of its objectives revolve around providing liveable streets and a public space that is accessible for all.
Simetrica-Jacobs were commissioned to conduct a statistical profiling analysis of Edinburgh city centre, to understand who is likely to be affected by the transformation programme, their socio-economic characteristics, and (by comparison to other areas of Scotland) the potential to improve key environmental and community factors such as air quality, noise, and access to green and public space. The outputs are being presented graphically through heat (choropleth) maps, tables and other infographic charts.
