Augustin (Gus) oversees the technical team and works closely with project leaders to provide direction across the company’s work. He supports clients in understanding, measuring and communicating the value of their activities, with experience spanning the full project lifecycle, from options appraisal and investment cases to the development of tools for measuring and communicating impact.
Gus specialises in economic appraisal and non-market valuation, with particular expertise in Wellbeing Valuation and Stated Preference methods. He is especially skilled at translating technically complex analysis into clear and compelling evidence for senior decision-makers and non-specialist audiences. His work spans arts, culture, heritage, housing and flood risk management, and includes projects for organisations such as DCMS, Historic England, the Broadland Futures Initiative, Homes England, the Environment Agency and Canal & River Trust. He also maintains close links with the academic community and keeps abreast of developments in wellbeing science, measurement literature and national and international guidance. Although his work is predominantly UK-based, he has also contributed to projects in Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada, Italy, Ireland and Pakistan.
Before joining Simetrica-Jacobs, Gus worked at Bruegel as a Research Assistant in the area of international climate commitment and sectoral competitiveness. Prior to this, he worked as a Policy Analyst at the French Ministry of Environment. He holds a BSc in Economics from the University of Poitiers and Banská Bystrica, and an MSc in Environmental Economics from the Toulouse School of Economics.
